Product Description

The RTU (Retarded Tail Unit) No. 1121 is a high-drag tail fin assembly for the Indian-made 1,000-pound aerial bomb. Its key feature is the ability to slow the bomb's descent after release, allowing the aircraft to escape the blast zone during low-altitude bombing runs

Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The unit creates significant aerodynamic drag, which rapidly slows the bomb after release. This is achieved through deployable drag-inducing petals or other mechanical braking devices built into the tail unit.
By retarding the bomb, the RTU 1121 provides safe separation for the delivery aircraft, which is crucial for missions executed at low altitudes.
The design allows the same bomb body to be used for different types of missions. The RTU 1121 high-drag unit can be installed for low-altitude drops, while a conventional low-drag tail unit can be used for high-altitude missions.
