Product Description

FUZE 40mm PIBD is used for 40mm grenade, specifically the Point Initiating Base Detonation (PIBD) variant and produced component for grenades fired from Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL) and Multi-Grenade Launchers (MGL).

Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The PIBD fuze is designed to initiate the explosive train upon impact. This means the grenade detonates when its tip hits the target.
This is distinct from a Point Detonating and Self-Destruction (PDSD) fuze, which is also used on some 40mm grenades but is an electro-mechanical type with a self-destruct feature.
For safety, the fuze is not active immediately after being fired. The Indian 40mm High-Explosive Anti-Personnel (HEAP) grenade with a PIBD fuze has a specified arming distance of 8 to 28 meters
This ensures the grenade is safe for the soldier launching it.
The fuze is a critical component of the 40mm HEAP and 40mm Red Phosphorous (RP) grenades, which are used against personnel and other "soft" targets
