The 125mm HE (High Explosive) fin assembly is a critical component of fin-stabilized high-explosive tank ammunition, typically fired from the smoothbore main guns of tanks like the Russian T-72 and T-90. The assembly provides aerodynamic stability to the projectile in flight, ensuring accuracy and range.

The primary purpose of the fins is to stabilize the projectile's trajectory, ensuring a straight and accurate flight path.
Many designs incorporate fins that fold in to fit the diameter of the gun barrel. Once the round exits the muzzle, the fins deploy outward to stabilize the projectile during its flight.
The fin assembly must be designed for a specific munition, in this case a 125mm HE projectile, and compatible with the particular smoothbore gun, such as those on T-72 and T-90 tanks.
The fins are precisely machined to ensure proper aerodynamics and to fit securely to the projectile.
