Product Description

A 140mm rocket shell for a naval gun refers to a rocket-assisted projectile (RAP) designed to be fired from a standard naval cannon of that caliber. Unlike a conventional shell, which is propelled solely by a gunpowder charge, the RAP contains a small solid-propellant rocket motor in its base that ignites after firing to provide additional thrust.

The primary payload, designed to maximize damage to personnel and unarmored targets over a wide area.
Provides the propulsion to launch and propel the rocket towards its target.
Lacking fins, these unguided rockets are stabilized by rotating as they travel. This is achieved by rifling inside the launch tube.
Due to the absence of guidance systems, these rockets are best used for saturation fire, where a large number of projectiles are fired at an area target.
In addition to HE, other variants include smoke warheads (using white phosphorus) for screening and chemical warheads.
With ranges of around 10 km, they are most effective at shorter distances against surface threats.
