Product Description

The T-72 tank's breech block is part of its automatic loading system, which made it possible to reduce the tank's crew to three by eliminating the human loader. The autoloader feeds two-piece ammunition into the main gun, with the breech block securely sealing the rear of the gun chamber during firing.

Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The breech is part of the autoloader system, which automatically feeds separate projectile and propellant charges into the gun.
Unlike Western tanks that use single-piece ammunition, the T-72's autoloader handles two-piece rounds: a projectile and a separate charge case.
When the breech opens after firing, extractors on the breechblock mechanism remove the spent cartridge case (or base cap)
The ammunition is stored in a carousel-like conveyor system on the turret floor, which feeds the autoloader.
Studies have shown that optimization of the breech block stopper (an impact-absorbing component) is important for energy absorption and reducing stress on the system.
The use of an autoloader removes the need for a fourth crew member, allowing for a more compact turret design.
