Product Description

The FUZE PDM 572 is a point-detonating fuze used for 155mm artillery shells, a version of the M572 fuze. It provides the user with two modes of detonation, which can be selected before firing. 

Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The fuze has a selective setting for either super-quick (SQ) or delay (DLY) action, which is chosen by turning an external setting sleeve.
The fuze detonates instantly upon impact. When the fuze is fired, centrifugal force from the shell's spin causes a booster assembly to arm, and the firing pin then crushes a detonator upon impact with the target.
The fuze detonates after a short, specific delay (e.g., 0.05 seconds). In this mode, a mechanism blocks the immediate explosive flash, routing it instead through a black-powder delay charge before detonating the main explosive train.
The centrifugal force generated by the spinning projectile plays a crucial role in arming the fuze and its booster. This prevents accidental detonation during handling and transport
