Product Description
An Extended Range Full Bore (ERFB) shell is a 155mm artillery projectile designed for longer range and higher performance compared to standard shells. It achieves this through a "full bore" design, which means it is the same diameter as the gun's bore, reducing drag. This artillery shell is designed for maximum range and accuracy against ground targets when fired from 155mm guns, such as India's Dhanush and Bofors guns.
Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The HE ERFB BT is designed for rapid and accurate firing at ground targets over long distances.
The ERFB design provides a higher range than standard artillery shells. The boat tail design, a tapering of the shell's base, reduces drag to maintain higher velocity and extend the flight distance.
The shell is filled with a high-explosive composition for a powerful blast and fragmentation effect. For fragmentation, it uses a high-quality steel alloy and a thinner shell body.
The projectile is compatible with various modern 155mm howitzers and standard propellant charges, including Charge 8 and Charge
It can be used with compatible point-detonating fuzes, such as the PDM-572 CI. Robust construction: The shell body is made from high-tensile steel and can withstand the intense pressures of gun launch.
OFAJ also produces a Base Bleed (BB) version of the HE ERFB shell, which uses a gas-generating canister to further increase the maximum range.
