Product Description

FUZE B429 is a point-detonating fuze that activates on impact, while the B429 E (Electronic) is its electronic version, offering more advanced timing and safety features for artillery ammunition. The B429 is designed for impact detonation, whereas the B429 E uses an electronic timing mechanism for specific effects like delayed detonation.

Features/Roles/Variants of the product
The fuzes have two selectable modes that allow them to detonate immediately on impact (super-quick action) or after a short delay (0.027–0.063 seconds).
The fuzes are armed by setback forces from the firing of the projectile. A safety and arming device isolates the detonator until the projectile is a safe distance away from the muzzle (between 5 and 20 meters), preventing premature detonation.
They are designed to function reliably in all weather conditions.
The fuzes incorporate a graze-sensitive element that ensures they detonate even when impacting soft surfaces, such as snow or marshy ground, rather than penetrating without exploding.
The fuzes are primarily mechanical. The internal components, such as the striker, rotor, and safety mechanisms, are visible in diagrams. A tetryl booster is used to initiate the main explosive charge in the shell.
